Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua, well done!

Newly sworn in MPs - Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua - created history today by blogging from inside the Dewan Rakyat chambers. Jeff Ooi is also possibly the first blogger to be elected as a Member of Parliament. Tony Pua also posted a short commentary about his experience today.
The live reporting by these bloggers means mainstream newspapers and their online team would have to work harder to keep their readers updated. It's good for our new MPs and the reporters covering the parliamentary meetings. Well done, Jeff and Tony!

Hi, Datuk, reading Jeff’s reporting from the Parliament, I think you do not need to push your guys too hard. I still need to get a copy of the Star or NST to read what really are the issues of our interest being debated in Parliament.

I especially found it sickly that Jeff should wrote this on his first day in Parliament. I quote –

Looking around the BN side of the House, with 140 members over there, I gather that BN is aging with a majority of old cocks.

I am sure Jeff has disappointed many of the older voters who have voted him into Parliament.

Even the Bible has this to say,

Now also when I am old and grey-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. (Psalm 71:18)

Being old does not mean that we should be worn out and phased out! Caleb, one of the twelve spies sent to check out Canaan, never retired. He just kept going, and faith kept him young and strong in heart. At eighty-five years old Caleb said, "So here I am today, eighty-five years old. I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then."
