More excuses from Zulkifli Nordin

Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin must be a man wearing many hats or many masks. After barging into the Bar Council forum, which he has now denied, and having earned the reputation for being the loudest protestor, he is now telling us that he was there as an exco member of Persatuan Peguam Pembela Islam, and not as an MP. Even his party has deemed fit to send him a show cause letter for his outrageous behaviour but he is now telling us that having explained to PKR whip Azmin Ali, his explanation has been accepted.

During his disappearing act, he must have spent time coming out with this defence line. But lawyers and reporters present at the forum knew he was part of the Umno-PKR-PAS combo that created a big fuss at the forum. Bar Council secretary Lim Chee Wee regarded Zulkifli and the others as "aggressive, refused to sit down, stood in the centre of the aisle, glared at activist Dr Mehrun Siraj, who was speaking." Wonder what Zulkifli will tell his constituents of various races and faiths when he goes back to his kawasan?

Datuk WCW,

Remember, when he first disappeared, gullible PKR supporters were ranting that he was arrested under ISA? So how now?
How can you trust these kind of jokers as MPs? When it comes to religion, they go beserk. Supposed to be lawyer but cannot think rationally.
I wonder how the non-Muslims in Kulim who voted this pembela in are feeling right now. Padan muka, I say.
This guy and the other barbaric goons who tried to disrupt the Bar Council forum with threats of violence, must apologise to all Malaysians. So should the heads of their political parties - Umno, PAS and PKR.
New political dawn for Malaysian politics after March 8? My foot!

Saudara Pengarang,

Good that you are following up with Zulkifli's case. We non-malays are proud of you. However I do not see any entry about UITM's issue in your blog. You overlooked it or you are being a lackey for BN. Lets have some balls Datuk.

Time to teach this chameleon a lesson. He should not be allowed to get away with his attitude. A man with no moral standing. He talks nonsense. I sincerely hope there will be a by-election in his constituent. Let see how gets his votes. Let the UMNO goons support him. An unmatured person.

This Zulkifli Nordin is a pain in Anuar's neck.

He does not seem to understand political strategy and behaving as a humble Muslim. A humble does not have to shout like a hyena to put his point across. He brings the conflicting parties to the discussion table.

Anuar can do without this human being.

KJ's Thoughts

YB Zulkifili Nordin (PKR - Kulim Bandar Baru) walked into Parliament yesterday as I was debating the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board Bill. His sudden appearance in Parliament having gone MIA after being prominent in the protest against the Bar Council on 9 August puts to rest the ridiculous rumour spread by the Opposition that YB Zulkifli was detained under the Internal Security Act. In fact, I suspect that rumour was initiated by YB Zulkifli himself to deflect from mounting criticism within his own party over his role in the demonstration.

I also note with interest that notwithstanding the PKR leadership's censure of YB Zulkifli's actions, he remained unrepentant and defiant when launching further attacks on the Bar Council . Although YB Zulkifli has refused to back down and toe the party line, PKR Chief Whip, YB Azmin Ali (PKR - Gombak) has let YB Zulkifli off the hook by accepting his explanation. It seems YB Azmin's decision to allow YB Zulkifli to continue to maintain his position against the Bar Council is inconsistent with the stand of the PKR and Pakatan Rakyat leadership.

This is not about whether YB Zulkifli is right or wrong. This is about the fundamental ties that bind this so-called political coalition that has designs on running this country very soon. Why is the silence of the Pakatan Rakyat leadership deafening in the face of YB Zukifli's open defiance of his own party's censure? Why is the normally glib YB Lim Kit Siang (DAP - Ipoh Timor) not chastising YB Zulkifli for defending his action at the Bar Council which was condemned by many DAP leaders? Is the self-proclaimed PM-in-waiting, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, unable to prevent his own MP from repeatedly breaking ranks with the party line?

Let's not forget that YB Zulkifli was not alone at the protest outside the Bar Council. YB Salahuddin Ayub (PAS - Kubang Kerian) was also present to lend his support to the demonstrators. What are the views of YBs Lim (Senior and Junior) on YB Salahuddin's presence at the Bar Council? Or is it more silence? Is DAP's deafening silence over the YB Zulkifli issue a signal that DAP is willing to compromise its stand for the sake of keeping up Pakatan pretenses in its quest for power? YB Lim Senior should spend less time obsessing about Gerakan's role in Barisan Nasional and focus his jurassic energies on preventing a rupture in Pakatan Rakyat.

Already PAS has made clear in no uncertain terms that it is unhappy with the overbearing dominance of PKR and DAP in states governed by the PR alliance. Its senior leaders have also questioned publicly Dato' Seri Anwar's suitability in becoming the Pakatan Rakyat nominee for PM if the mythical 16 September materializes. Similarly, there is no love lost between DAP leaders and PAS and it is well-known that the two parties are only tolerating one another for the sake of power.

Add to this underlying tension the latest episode involving YB Zulkifli. Pakatan Rakyat leaders can extend their deafening silence for now. Dato' Seri Anwar and YBs Lim will skirt and fudge the YB Zulkifli issue because they don't want to address it during the Permatang Pauh by-elections. They want to keep up pretenses, showing the nation that everything is hunky dory in the Pakatan Rakyat camp. They are willing to suspend principles for politics by not addressing the YB Zulkifli issue head on, just like Dato' Seri Anwar fudged his response on the proceedings at the PAS Muktamar last week.

Well, obfuscate all you want but the writing is on the wall. The marriage of convenience has been exposed for the sham that it is. The deafening silence over the YB Zulkifli issue by Dato' Seri Anwar and DAP will only succeed in postponing the inevitable. For all its talk of a new Malaysia and a real alternative against BN, Pakatan Rakyat remains a politically expedient arrangement among strange bedfellows bound not by a shared ideology but by a common lust for power. The rupture has begun.

Saya sokong saranan AB.
Kenapakah barisan kepimpinan Pakatan Rakyat berdiam diri dan membisukan diri masing - masing dalam isu ini ?
Kesemua mereka berselindung dibelakang kain Anwar Ibrahim?
Apa tunggu lagi ? Bertindaklah segera.Mari kita "sack" him !
Salam Perjuangan !

Whip Zulkifli's arse and kick him out of PKR. He can join his friends of the same feather in UMNO if he wants. And yes, Dato, please whip UMNO's arse too for supporting a 100% bumi student in UiTM, especially Najib's arse.

Come on… we are not that stupid. If you were there… you were there. Please don’t say that because you represent Persatuan Peguam Pembela Islam. You are there represent yourself and your belief on the matter. Be a man!

Adahak ini contoh pejuang Islam yang di bangga-banggakan oleh PKR. Mudah mengalah dan tidak mengaku salah. Walaupun anda disana mewakili Persatuan Peguam Pembela Islam dan bukan MP. Tapi kalau daha jadi MP orang tetap kan lihat perjuangan anda setiap masa. Bukan boleh "switch" suka-suka jer.

PKR now is part of Royal London Circus where they can appear and disappear but at the same put the blame on the Government. Clearly they not even know where their leaders are? Can this kind of party form a government in the future?

Anonymous said...

You called yourself a leader?

Anonymous said...

This party has become so radical and at certain stage they are a bit uncontrollable by their own leaders. Just look at what happened at Permatang Pauh. This is not democracy but more like jungle-cracy. Violent!

Stop confusing your supporters… which side are you?

You are not suit to be a leader in any party. A good and strong leader never… back off on what they stand for. Hope you will lose on the next election.

Datuk,

The entire protest was a disgrace, no two ways about it. What is shocking though is this: in a time when Pakatan Rakyat promises to bring about a new leadership that leaves behind the narrow communal politics so associated with UMNO, for Zulkifli to have spearheaded the protest suggests that PKR have much to prove.

What really bothers me as a voter who like many others was so enthused by the promise of a new Malaysia is that the leaders in PR are not coming down hard on Zulkifli! I'd expect this for UMNO - Hisham and the keris was a good example - but not from Anwar and Kit Siang.

It's a sad reality that I'm starting to have serious doubts about PR and their sincerity in fighting for a more moderate society.

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.

That is what PKR is doing right now.

The problem with political jokes is they get elected.

His defense that he is a Muslim first and everything else second is quite disconcerting.

He was elected by a multi-racial/multi-religious constituency. To go up there and create a ruckus is plain irresponsible. I would think Islam teaches those in power to also be answerable to the people who put them there in the first place.

So unless Zulkifli can show the people of Kulim that God himself told him to act like a monkey in the name of Islam, he might as well apologise to the voters. Don't run on PKR ticket-lah. Misleading people. Run on PAS ticket ok-lah...wont be surprising if one goes on chest-beating.

Anonymous said...

Where is Anwar? Where is Kit Siang? What happened to multi-racial multi religious bla bla bla? How can PKR not censure Zulkifli if it were truly a multi-racial party founded on the principles of justice, liberty and democracy?

All questions that need answering now!

Anonymous said...

Just out of curiosity, you represent PKR that team up with DAP and PAS. Your stand on this issue are against the form right. What kind of excuse that you give to Azmin on this matter? Or you just said that you were sorry.

Anonymous said...

Apa yang benar-benar melucukan adalah beliau berani benar mengherdik amok dsbnya tetapi bila dikritik terus hilang berhari-hari.

Ini wira apa ni? Mamat keris tu pun sekurang-kurangnya berani menghadapi tuduhan dan cuba mempertahankan aksinya, walaupun akhirnya memohon maaf. Tapi Zulkifli ni hilang terus cuci tangan cakap dia buat sebagai ahli Persatuan Pembela Islam. Siapa undi dia? Siapa buat dia jadi YB? Persatuan tu ke? Atau rakyat Kulim?

Anonymous said...

The PKR problem is like a wise man can see more from the bottom of a well than a fool can from a mountain top.

Anonymous said...

Azmin Ali did not vote Zulkifli into Parliament. The people did. Zulkifli must justify his actions to the people or apologise. This closed-door private 'explanation' to a party senior does nothing for me.

Anonymous said...

You characterized Zulkifli as a man wearing many hats or many masks and I now ask you what is wrong with that position? If you read law, in the case of Salomon v Salomon, that was the tenet or elementary case for the principle of separation of power in corporate law, Salomon was acquitted by the Highest Court despite well-argued case of the claimants of his positions as a shareholder, manager and the sole worker as the Court resolved that each role was different and bore different responsibilities. As such, he was exonerated from legal suits on him as a shareholder.

Likewise why can’t we, you and I, included, accept this? He was there as an exco member of Persatuan Peguam Pembela Islam, and not as an MP, as he explained. Why can’t he enjoy the liberty of representing the organization he helped to establish? It’s hard to fathom your argument when you said “But lawyers and reporters present at the forum knew he was part of the Umno-PKR-PAS combo that created a big fuss at the forum.”… for it was too illogical and politically-suicidal of Zulkifli to be there as a representative of PKR as:

one: The staged demonstration was against PKR’s ideals
two: The relevancy of his action could only be justified by his association with the Persatuan Peguam Pembela Islam

Even if it was true that the protest was part of Umno-PKR-PAS pursuit, why him alone, got attacked, I now ask? And have you got evidence to substantiate your conviction, verdict and statement that it was truly a pact of Umno-PKR-PAS?

"Show cause letter". What was his great cause then, that PKR is now willing to let him off the hook?

Share with us, Azmin! No political favours right? ;)

Varied hats or roles are an explanation, but not an excuse, especially for an MP whose party champions freedom for rights to choose and to speak and the enabling liberties to do so.

An MP the first line
Representing the people
Nothing else matters

When an MP holds many hats
He should beware the line of duty
The ground he walks
The badge he wears
It tells him representing people

He can’t portray
He represents an organization
So he goes protesting in multi-racial environment
Forgetting he holds his badge as an MP
He betrays the people’s trust
He shouldn’t go blindly

Religious issues are always very intimate and sensitive
We don’t need our MPs going naked arguing about it
We need our MPs to stand neutral putting decorum and civilized way
Putting ideas how to discuss rationally…………

The world will move us by
When we have MPs forgetting voters
Of many multi-racial multi-religious people
When they start saying they represent their race and religion
Forgetting they are in a multi-racial multi-religious nation
Voting by people to represent them not by race but country
As a unity representing Malaysia………….

If MPs can’t think like that
They shouldn’t be in the August House
They better go to the narrow dark alley roads
Nobody will care about them

Dear Datuk WCW,

I don't know but I'm sick and tired of these kind of drama played by our politicians be it from the BN or PKR.

There are so many big challenges that this country has to face. Do you know that some of the big multi-national companies that has been staying in Malaysia for more than 20 years are relocating their operation to our neighbouring countries? I know one of them because my wife is working in there.

Why are they moving? Why Malaysia is losing its competitive?

Young and bright Malaysians are not serving this country, they are moving out? Why? Who is at the losing end?

So many big and important issues to tackle and yet I am sad to see our politicians have such a short vision.

In my opinion, our enemies are outside of the country and not within the country.
