Ahmad Ismail remain defiant

"Why should I apologise? I didn't do anything wrong..." - Starpix
The Deputy Prime Minister may have apologised on his behalf but Datuk Ahmad Ismail is not going to say sorry. Period. He has remained defiant and has maintained he has done no wrong. The Star managed to track down the Penang Umno politician who insisted he would explain to the PM at the Penang Umno meeting this Saturday. Ahmad Ismail has missed the entire point - he has hurt Malaysians and even his BN component partners with his outrageous and racist remarks, yet he sees no wrong with that. What's really wrong with this chap? It's the same with PKR MP and lawyer Zulkifli Nordin, who has also arrogantly dismissed criticism against him for storming into the Bar Council forum. He is expected to face the party's disciplinary committee this Saturday but except for slap on the wrist, do we seriously believe that PKR want to lose him? Particularly when PKR is hunting for MPs to jump ship to make up the numbers?

WCW,

I can't help but detect your hostility towards PKR and Anwar, but as a super-bodek ampu of UMNO/BN, I understand your position and won't blame you. Still, it would be fine you castigate Ahmad Ismail for his recalcitrance, but why want to bring in Zulkifli Nordin at this stage? Why want to lessen the blow on Ahmad Ismail and UMNO when practically the whole country is up in arms against them? Mind you, I also oppose Zulkifli's boorish behaviour at the Bar Council's recent forum, but to link this to Ahmad Ismail's recalcitrance, one wonders whether you are doing it to please your UMNO and MCA bosses? Your above comment would have been good if you had left out the Zulkifli bit which is more suitable for another forum. Let me remind you that I am no fan of Zulkifli, but still I do not condone your exploiting his misbehaviour just to make Pak Lah, Najib and UMNO feel good. I am sure you will delete this comment, but at least you would have got the right kind of feedback on the ground. A good day to you, Sir.

We are not disappointed, never expect this recalcitrant Ahmad to apologize.

We just want be to face the law under Sedition Act.

His apology is not necessary and not important.

Well Done. Datuk Wong.

There is nothing wrong with this guy. He is a catalyst.

(1) He is doing Gerakan a favour. Now they really have a reason to leave BN.
(2) He is increasing the strength of Pakatan.
(3) He just gave a slap on the face to Ong Ka Ting with his MCA accept apology.

Didn't I say so?

Now please tell me what good it makes to compel this man to apologize?

The best option is to charge him under sedition. Losing one man is worth the cause than losing the entire community. Like Dr.M used to say when you have gangrene it's better to remove the said part from your body than allowing it to spread.

This is the arrogant policy of UMNO that breeds racism.People like this chap is only interested in Ketuaran Melayu rather than Ketuaran Malaysia.Sooner or later a time bomb is going to explode and don't tell me UMN0 is going to gain if our country is in a mess, right?Stupid leaders breed stupid economy.

Sack this b*#t&%d from UMNO! He is just a thug and a gangster. He has no business representing civlized people. His "datukship" should be stripped from him.

Investigate him corruption and fraud and tax avoidance also, then kick this ars*-h%le out of Malayisa.

Dato, please dont jump the gun on PKR. If you are not biased why you refrained from commenting BN will also just do the same- give a slap on the wrist for their bad boy which was proven too often. That's the reason why so many of us lost faith in mainstream newspapers, but as humans, we understand you all need to put food on the table at the end of the day.

The last thing I want to do is to defend what Ahmad Ismail purportedly said. But, what I would like to find out is what he said exactly. Now Ahmad has not yet clarified what it was he said exactly.

It is common for UMNO leaders to give speeches and ceramah that touch on UMNO's contributions to Malaysian society, especially the Malay community. They do this by talking about the history of the country. When talking about the history of Malaysia, inevitably UMNO leaders will talk about the so-call "social contract" between the communities that codified the special position of the Malays in the Constitution in return for allowing Chinese and Indians citizenship. At that time it was true that many of these Chinese and Indians were immigrants with initially no plan to stay on in Malaysia. Thus, some felt that they were "penumpang" in the benign sense of the word.

Of course, such a word cannot be use to describe any Malaysian today - Malay, Chinese, India, Iban, Kadazan or others. We are all citizens of Malaysia and are here to stay. But sometimes UMNO leaders use these very controversial and coarse terms when talking about the past.

I would be interested to find out what the context of Ahmad Ismail's statement was. If it was to describe perceptions of communities pre-independence then its not as malicious as people have made it out to be.

I am also interested to find out how this was reported in the first place. As I understand it, it first was covered by one of the Chinese vernacular papers. Again, sometimes these papers go to UMNO functions and take certain statements out of context which lead to the entire episode blowing out of proportion.

Again, I am not defending Ahmad Ismail. I am merely raising key questions about actually what was said, its context and how it was covered. Surely these are important information for people to assess before coming to any sort of judgment on the matter.

when RPK said something about a politician, immediately the sedition act comes out and policemen were so effective. when this hopeless fler politician said something that hurt millions of malaysians, nothing is done even when the crime is clear. yet our leader only said he will ask the politician not to do it again. where is the so-called justice in malaysia??? hopeless government.

Of course Ahmad Ismail cannot see he is doing wrong. He is a product of our education and political system that cultivates bigots. We don't want his apology. Just throw him in priosn under the infamous ISA, and throw the key away. As for Zulkifli Nordin, he deserves the same punishment. And yes Dato Wong, we don't mind losing one seat. 30 or 31 needed to oust UMNO makes no diffeence. he is bad for Pakatan Rakyat. We would like to donate him to UMNO. So, Najib, what have you to say on Ahmad's arrogance? You apologize on his behalf, and he says "what the F...?", so he is undermining your authority. So dear Najib, aren't you going to sack this Ahmad fella for insubordination, and for making you look like a fool? He can ask you to go fly kite on the apology? So Najib, what say you? Aren't you going to whip his arse to show him you are his boss?

Do you know that he said that since chinese do not support bn anymore, he should take care of the malay's interests (supposedly by insulting the intelligence of the chinese)?.....If AAB or Njb continues to show any hesitation in condamning this dastardly display of disregard for the feelings of the rakyat as well as the MCA / Gerakans, this may be the lighting fuse for the breakup of BN.

i really admire Ahmad Ismail for standing up for the truth by not apologizing. His stern action of not making an apology leads me to believes that someone else is not telling the truth.

Fellow Malaysians, pls give this poor guy a break for telling the truth.

This shows how much control our beloved hopeless PM has.

Heard he is an UMNO heavyweight/warlord in Penang. Do you really think he is going to bow to pressure so easily? They claim he moves the earth more than a lot of other top UMNO men.

Those who have asked En. Ahmad Ismail to apologise should firstly read Tun Mahathir latest snippet:

he says he has "done nothing wrong".so he is saying that it is OK to question the citizenship of non malays. It seems to me that isu isu sensitive only apply to malays and not the country.if a non malay like bar council or other groups make even a reference to the special rights, the whole goverment goes beserk like the whole country is going to fall into riots.this is openly undermining the people. At least PKR is refering zulkifli to a diciplinary comitee.Penang should strip ahmad ismail of his datukship if Umno has got no "stones" to take action on him

As usual, politicians who say something wrong will start to blame someone else for misquoting them! It's as old as Adam and Eve and as fresh as 2009! Same old! same old!

Si Ahmad nih, is an embarrassment to Malaysia. We tok tok tok about unity, and we have these leaders! Obviously this GE in March wasn't enough of a wake up call! Let's vote them out with an even greater margin next time... let's give 10 states to opposition! At least they have the decency to give politics a fresh face for the PEOPLE. MALAYSIA FOR MALAYSIANS. Get these rascist Barisan OUT OF POWER. The average man doesn't look at race. If an India mari person is hungry, same with the Chinese boy same with the Malay boy, and the orang asli boy. HUNGER is the same. And we are hungry for JUSTICE. It's these politicians that like to cucuk bontot and instigate. Get Barisan out! We're tired of your rascist lies.

Ahmad Ismail doesn’t want to apologise
The police should arrest him under Sedition Act
5 police reports launched against him
The racist who refuses to acknowledge
Malaysia a country of many races
United as one nation one race
Anak Bangsa Malaysia

Now the police have to act
Grant no favor take no fear
Take him in and remand him
If it needs be, charge him under the law

UMNO disciplinary committee
Know your stuff do your thing
Too many UMNO leaders harping on racial slurs
It doesn’t sound right after 51 years of independence

Sack him from the party
You don’t need guys like him to spoil your labor
Enough of racial bashing time to walk the talk
Let him find his truth alone
Yesterday he shown no remorse

The writing on the wall
The mirror reflecting its message
UMNO has to buck up and change its way
Else the party is goner in time
When Malaysia is for all Malaysians
Irrespective of race and religion

So MCA??? Do you accept this Ahmad Ismail??? If this kind of behaviour acceptable, then MCA = NO FACE already and no standing....I think next election MCA=total wipe out. We will watch & see how MCA response.

ARROGANT! Not only him lah, i met fellow malaysians who called me n other races "ORANG ASING". So sad..migrate migrate...

At this stage, what he said or not said is no longer important. He had managed to attract the ire of the entire non-malay segment of the population. He is the icon of hate for things wrong.

He is the symbol that show the impotence MCA. Gerakan and MIC are.

I proposed we immortalised Ahmad Ismail with a statute. in Pematnag Pauh. So that people can spit and swear at him for generations to come. Maybe PKR can take up this suggestion.

Maybe, one day, this will become a tourist attraction

Here are 10 steps for Ahmad Ismail to apologise with dignity

Anonymous said...

TNS says...

Ahmad probably did the right and sensible thing, from his view point. Afterall if he did apologize nobody is going to believe his sincerity anyway, right? And certainly not after all the hoo-hah. It would have been a little bit too late.

I also respect his principle in sticking to a mind of his own. That only shows how stupid DPM and UMNO can be apologizing on behalf of someone who did not want to apologize at all. Well done Ahmad for teaching them not to take things into their own hands without prior consultation of the incumbent, or is it?

It's ok Ahmad. Your refusal to apologize is absolutely ok as it only confirms the answers to a lot of questions the rakyat are asking but not finding the answers. Your action, or inaction, has clarified all these issues. Thank you so very much.

go buy some rotten eggs , dead meat , dog blood and red paints and throw them at this fat ahmad..that's all i have to say for a person who makes an insult to other races thinking that since he is MALAY under UMNO, he can talk or curse!!

if he is the king, we will surely go for civil war or maybe even international war!!

NewChief said...

last nite over the tv news, fat ahmad blamed the chinses newspapers especially for twisting his wordings / story / remark . he said he was referring to HISTORY !! if that's the case, i am very sure the very 1st thing he would have have done is SUE THE NEWSPAPAERS because this is what barbaric nationalists clan do !!

however, i didn't see these 'sue actions' uttered out from him so i think HE DID MAKE RACISM REMARKS!! i strongly encourage the chinese newspapers to 'SUE HIM BACK' for making bad reputations on chinses prints!!

now, there are even more 13 penang umno joining to agree to his remarks about not apologising!! i just hope everyone who has supported bn / umno can see now that bn / umno treats no-one fairly in actual fact!!

better buy more rotten eggs, dead meat ,etc to throw at them whenever can hoping they will wake up to serve the rakyat better as it is the RAKYAT WHO ARE THE ONES WHO APPOINTED THEM !!
