Polling after National Day?

The campaigning period in the Permatang Pauh by-election is likely to be a short one. The word is that polling would be held after the National Day with the Elections Commission likely to make sure that the by-election would not be affected by the fasting month. Despite the hype of the media, in the run-up to the by-election, the winner is already known. Short of a miracle, Anwar Ibrahim will be returned as the MP for Permatang Pauh. The only Umno candidate who wants to contest against Anwar is Ezam but he has been ruled out. A local candidate is almost certain but he would probably be a reluctant candidate, too. Cynics would probably regard him as a sacrificial lamb.

For the first time you are right.
Anwar has really put the Umno monkeys
on the spot.

Come on now, Chun Wai, Anwar is not that bad. Instead of saying
"Short of a miracle, Anwar Ibrahim will be returned as the MP for Permatang Pauh",

you should be saying
"Short of a disaster for Anwar, Anwar Ibrahim will be returned as the MP for Permatang Pauh".

I highly doubt we can consider it a "miracle" for Malaysia if Anwar loses. Now, what would be a miracle would be if oil prices in Malaysia go down, real income per capita in Malaysia goes up and the Malaysian inflation rate tames down. Now, that is what I call a "miracle" for Malaysia, not Anwar's defeat.

Let's hope there'll be a contest
To find out who's better or best
To lay productive eggs in the nest
And not enter simply just for jest

Don't get lulled by BN/UMNO's "admission" of defeat before polling even starts. They want to play underdog to lull the PR supporters to stay at home instead of going to vote. And they want the sympathy votes to go to UMNO. So I urge all PR supporters to turn out in full force. And for those residing outside Permatang Pauh, to take leave from work and go home to cast your votes. Don't watse this chance to put Anwar back in parliment. We still got a long way to go to topple this very corrupt government. This is time to persevere through the ridiculous things the bad government throw at the rakyat. Keep the focus to vote for change and reforms.

Yo Chun Wai

Ezam or Anwar, am not bothered with one or the other. Two peas in a pod. Just interested in Ezam's Pandora boxes. Will there be worms and maggots? But if I am a Permatang Pauh voter, I will not choose one who is troublesome amd interested only in himself. I will want one of my kind, who lives with me, knows me and my needs. Someone like Lam Thye whem he was MP for KL Bandar.

YAB PM has been seen visiting permatang pauh the same day as anwar's announcement later that night. Both party are looking forward to contesting the seat and show one's grip. Voters of permatang pauh would be the beneficiary and hope the best, local, reluctant yet credible BN candidates can give dsai a good fight! ;)
