The Sultan of Selangor speaks his mind

Not many people are aware that when the Sultan of Selangor travels, he enjoy waiting for his flights at the normal lounge, like other ordinary passengers. Whether it is the KLIA or anyone else, he prefers to be treated like everyone else. Malaysian tourists in London have been stunned to bump into his Royal Highness watching a play or a musical by himself, without the presence of bodyguards. He does not believe in travelling with an entourage or bodyguards, believing taxpayers money should not be wasted. Not many are also aware that he often drives himself except when he performs official functions. That's the Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for Malaysians.

He has certainly demonstrated himself to be more progressive and reform minded than many Malaysian politicians, who still thrive on trivial issues and to project themselves as communal champions to win votes. In an interview with his Royal Highness last week, the Tuanku made known that he was unhappy with politicians who harp on trivial issues, play up racial issues and more important this is his message - Malaysia belongs to all and this country is built on the contribution of all races. It must be acknowledged, the Tuanku said. He is also concerned with the "quality of our politicians." That's not all, he is not awarding any Datukship to politicians this year, The Star reported. The Tuanku has certainly said it all, on behalf of Malaysians. Daulat Tuanku! Read The Star for full questions and answers. The Malaysian Insider also has a report here.

He just moved up drastically on my list of admired people. I have read his interview and certainly am happy to hear his views. it will be ironic if people who are protesting in the name of Sultan would sit back and really understand the mind of this sultan.

Whats the point if our royalties dont reprimand those immature politicians who like to harp on racial issues time and again for their own political survival. Now is the best time for them to come to the rescue of the rakyat and free them from the clutches of all those racist and selfish politicians so that all Malaysians regardless of race and religion can live in harmony and peace forever.DAULAT TUANKU.

DAULAT TUANKU!!! SELAMAT DIATAS TAKHTA!!! DAULAT TUANKU!!!

Our wise Sultan have spoken & please put his words into your brains.

We have a major economy turmoil in front of us & this is what we should address. It seems some stupid Malay individual along with some stupid Chinese individual are more interested debating over some stupid word entitled "KETUANAN MELAYU".

When the economy is at its' lowest, when many people is out of jobs & when many people are suffering not having enough food in their stomache...."We shall then see what's the BIG FUSS over who is the TUAN & who is the HAMBA ADBI".

To Mohd Apir Johar (GGMM) & Chua Soi Lek: "Grow up, will you???"

Dear Wong,

This is one of the two rulers which the rakyat have more respect. The other is in Perak.

And he is very right on the quality of our politicians. The LACK OF QUALITY, that is.

Some of the politicians are better suited to be performing in the Royal London Circus!!

Tuanku,
I hope you will lead the rest by giving award to the REAL deserving person, like someone who put and contribute to society. Not just because they are politician.

Politician should be the last on the list until when they passed away

Every malay politician loves to harp on racial issues because everyone wants to champion their race but for very personal and selfish reasons. You can see
them in the amount of legal and investment messes inherited from
those very people who had professed to champion the rights of the malays. You can also see that many Malays still live the life of kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang.

I believe that Sultan Selangor does not want to lose touch with the rakyat.
He wants to see the problems people faced by travelling normally and not given VVIP status.

And being incognito overseas is probably the only freedom he can have without the presense of bodyguards etc.

Only by doing so can you really say you have seen situations with your own eyes.

I really admire the Sultan of Selangor who speaks of his mind, he is truly a good sultan unlike my state of Perak. I really wish I am from Selangor. Always support you, good Sultan of Selangor. Malaysia belongs to all races!!! Daulat Tuanku
