PAS wants the teaching of Maths and Science to be scrapped immediately. The party said there was no reason for the government to wait until 2012. The statement was made by the party's information chief Ustaz Idris Ahmad in its official website, Harakah. He said the party could not accept Muhyddin Yassin's explanation.
It's bad enough our students have now been told of the switch to Bahasa Malaysia after going through the two subjects in English. PAS politicians, in applying pressure on the government, are only interested in the rural votes. In the long run, these rural kids will suffer because of their inability to speak and write English well. They will struggle in universities because the reference books would be in English as there would be no way the books can be translated fast enough into BM.
For the sake of warped arguments from the likes of PKR MP Zulkifli Nordin, who said the largely English-speaking Filipinos end up as maids, don't our politicians realise that these English-speaking Filipino maids earn more because of their ability to speak English? They get their off days without any fuss because they are able to articulate their rights better. They are in demand because of their education background.

And we are proud of our highly qualified graduate management trainees skinning fish at hypermarkets?
This Bandar Kulim MP together with some of the virulent PAS people proves there is no shortage of stupidity on both sides of the aisle.
I, for one, think we should make Karpal Singh the PM. At least we know he'll be willing to take on anyone.
Now, now, the brouhaha over PAS selecting a fishmonger as an election candidate begins to make sense.
Considering the calibre of PAS MPs and State Assemblymen, well, what to expect? Vote such low quality into power and soon English will be banned altogether and be replaced by Arabic.
Talk of the blind leading the blind.
Dear Wong,
It really makes me wonder what make these Pas politicians and that Zukifli guy tick.
They must be out of their moronic minds , or are they still living in the stone ages? CRAZY MAN!!!!!
Other more economically and powerful countries like China and Korea are scrambling to learn English and this Pas jurassic cavemen and Zukifli guy are still caught up in a time warp.
I shudder to think of the type of policies they will implement when they come to power.
And that comedian Zuklifi Nordin !!! His sense of logic is tragic and laughable, but nobody is laughing. In fact, I feel like crying.
I really think this Zuklifli guy craves publicity, making all these nonsensical statements.
Blogs and newspapers should not indulge him. Don't give him any space in the papers or blogs. People like him can perform well as a stand up comedian before a perverted crowd.
In this increasingly competitive global village, if we let these bunch of perverted cavemen-like politicians govern the country, we will be worse than a Third World country..!!!!!
May God bless Malaysia!
The PKR MP ? Do you have to mention him? Ignorance allows some people space in society before the (divine) reckoning comes down hard..:)

"If Filipinos have ended up as maids, it's simply because of the mismanagement of the country by the corrupt politicians. They robbed the Filipinos for decades. Don't look down at our Filipino friends; we could end up on the same road if our politicians have no political will by giving in to the rural majority for short-term gains. They are looking at the scenario within three years, with an eye on the elections, not three generations ahead."
You are absolutely right.
It has been said that in many cases when the natives took back control of their own countries they demonstrated an unnerving tendency to turn their countries into stinking cesspools of unbridled corruption, rampaging crime and crushing poverty.
A measure of blame must be borne by those empty-vessels that you named who are only good at making a lot of noise. When they are put in charge of governing, their gross incompetence and woeful lack of intellectual substance very quickly become obvious to one and all.
These are the people who will surely lead the country to ruin and bankruptcy.
There was no problem even for people like me in the early 70's to adapt from Sek.Jenis (C) Keb. to English Medium and still succeed in Malay.I hail from a small village in Bukit Mertajam. My kids are with international companies and English is a MUST but their command of Malay is equally good. Please conduct a noble hearted survey to all in the field, not just plucking from the air or for political mileage and kill another generation of Malaysians.
Actually it don't really matter what they decide now, 'cos come the next election and when we vote in a new govt, we can change it again. So people, please don't worry too much for now. Let's make and save as much as we can now in these difficult times and don't join in this squabble with our many mindless politicians! We the people will make ourselves heard again during the next GE! Long line Malaysia!
