PAS wants Sisters In Islam banned!

Latest: PAS wants teaching of Maths and Science in English to stop, see Msian Insider.

PAS has asked the National Fatwa Council to ban Sisters in Islam, the outspoken women group, if they were found to violate any rules. The resolution was adopted without a debate, according to a report. The outspoken SIS leaders were said to be too liberal for the PAS delegates, especially the conservatives who have now gained control of the party.

Just yesterday, reporters covering the PAS general assembly came under firing from some delegates for interacting freely. These delegates wanted gender segregation to be imposed and were pissed that women reporters did not cover their heads.

As the saying goes, be careful with what you wished for. The Islamist party is not even in power yet but is already showing its intolerant stand. At the end of the day, PAS will never change because that is the basis of its struggle and those who attempt to reform the party have found themselves sidelined.

For years, there have been talk to bring in non-Muslims as associate members but in the end, they will just remain members of supporters club, with no clout. They would only be useful tools to help the ulamas gain political power. But many non-Muslims are now cheering for PAS leaders believing that only these ulamas can bring hope to this country. In their hatred of the BN government, they feel that these PAS leaders have become their saviours and they actually believe that PAS would be an alternative that allow the liberal lifestyle. Good luck.

Those who support individual parties within the so-called Pakatan Rakyat must realise that it is a coalition that is much a work in progress, brought together by circumstances that even they are not sure about.

Unlike the Barisan, whose component parties are without any real ideological stand, PR has two parties which are very strong on where they stand.

PKR, I still feel, is neither here nor there, and is basically an Umno splinter group who will eventually prove, once power gets to their heads, that they are no different from Umno.

But with DAP and Pas, the lines are clear. So let us not pretend to be surprised over what is happening. Kit Siang can enjoy his Guinness at Sea Park until such time when Hadi tells him no. Moderate Pas leaders can reassure us that all is well until they gain real power by themselves, withuot having to have DAP or PKR alongside them; then we will see the true green colours.

Given a choice of choosing conservatives who respect your existence and outward-only liberals who call for the annihilation of minorities, you'd also choose the former.

If non-Muslims lean towards PAS, it is because of UMNO's blatant discrimination of non-Muslims. UMNO's intolerant behaviour is worse than PAS. Of course if PAS start behaving like UMNO, we will ditch PAS just the same. We were hoping that after March 2008 that UMNO and BN may want to reform, but that has proven to be wishful thinking only, and UMNO instead of reforming has actually gotten even worse. It is not too late for UMNO to reform before the next GE, if is capable of reforming. Otherwise it will be swept out of power to be replaced by PAS. Sure it is all about power. But that is the same case too with UMNO, MCA, MIC, etc. A lot will depend on Sabah and Sarawak as to who will sit in Putrajaya. Politicians there are known to be able to switch sides quite quickly if it is to their favour, so it will be dicey for both UMNO and Pakatan.

People are supporting PAS just to irritate BN. Let us hope BN learns from this and buck up. But to be honest, the people who really think that PAS will lead this country to greater heights must wake up sooner or later.

From Malaysian Insider:
SHAH ALAM, June 7 – The 55th Pas Annual Assembly that ended today passed a motion urging the government to immediately abolish the Teaching and Learning of Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI).

Rembau delegate Taufik Abdul Ghani who tabled the motion said the party objected to the Education Ministry’s move to delay the people’s demand for the scrapping of PPSMI.

The motion was seconded by former Perak Menteri Besar and Pas Central Working Committee member Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

No doubt I voted for PAS for Paliamentary and state seats the last time round, I strongly believe these religious fanatics should be together with the racists from UMNO. They will make a beautiful team together.

All other secular parties should be with PKR and DAP.

Then we can truly see how much support the Racists and religious fanatics actually get from the rakyat. What UMNO and PAS are doing now is spreading their legs wide putting one leg in the secular side and the other in the extreme side.

Now its ONLY a matter of time before someone kicks they BALLS !!

I shudder to think of PAS in control of our country. As it is, they are already claiming the Prime Minister post for themselves in the event of a Pakatan Rakyat takeover of the federal government.

The only good of PAS as the government will be less crimes since hudud law means many handless fellow citizens in our midst. The price will however be the end of freedom of worship or speech as bloggers like Zorro, the Scribe, Susan Loone, and you, the Writer, etc. will all be sent to join those from Sisters-in-Islam at concentration camps, and our country will turn the clock 30 years backwards into time.

PAS is an islamic party,they would certainly wish to impose the islamic teachings,which are not bad actually.But then again,you must understand that,PAS thus far is talking only about the muslims,they never imposed their views on non-muslims.If only UMNO had followed the true Islamic principles,our country would have been one of the best in not only Asia but the whole world.So why fear them.I have a lot of respect for Tuan Guru Nik Aziz,and in my opinion he is the only man in Malaysia today who is a kind,humble,principled and a bona fide politician,no one else.He knows Islam is a very fair religion and does not discriminate any one,including non-muslims.

You all must understand,that the moral decadence in the malay community is alarming,and UMNO is to be blamed for using islam for their political expediency in the process created a generation of young malays with low self esteem,plus churning out drones.So PAS is on track to help them and it is their right to do so.As long as PAS respects the constitutional rights of the non-malays and dont infringe on our freedom,it should be fine.And people like Tok Guru Nik Aziz,for whom I have a very high respect and love would never hurt another human being.So please stop looking at everything through a narrow lens.I said before and I say it again,so far there is only one wonderful,humble,kind and honest politician I have ever seen in Malaysia,and that is the the respectable Tuan Guru Hj Nik Aziz.May god bless him always.

If there is any group who could "save" Islam from being hijacked by fanaticism, it is the women of Islam. Sisters in Islam are only protecting their rights and demanding fairness and justice for themselves and the family; nothing more.

What is there to ban? In fact, the men should be fighting for equality for the ladies who are the backbones of most family units. They have full time jobs as well in addition to cooking and caring for the children.

Until we treat women with the utmost respect and accord them the status as our equal partners, we will not progress as a caring and just society.

Let pray one day we will have Muslim leaders who are very kind and concerned to others like our Prophet and his companions

~~~ One day, the closest Companion of the Holy Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam, Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq @ The Truthful One, Radhiallahu Anhu (May Allah be pleased with him) visited the home of his daughter, Saiyidatina Aishah, Radhiallahu Anha (May Allah be pleased with her), the widow of the Blessed Messenger (SAW). Abu Bakar asked Aishah, " O my child, is there any habit of my beloved (Prophet) that I have yet to carry on?" Aisyah replied, " Dear Father, you are verily a follower of the Sunnah (Habits) of the Prophet and there is none that you have yet to do except for one deed only!" " What is that?" asked Abu Bakar. "Every morning, the Prophet of Allah will go to the end of the marketplace, bringing food to a blind old Jewish beggar who lives there and feed him by his hand," said Aishah. The next day, Abu Bakar As Siddiq went to the marketplace with food for the blind beggar. Abu Bakar As Siddiq approached the beggar and started to feed him. At the first handfull of food being fed to him, the blind Jewish beggar became angry and shouted out ," Who are you?" Abu Bakar answered " I am the one who usually feeds you every morning". "No! Don't you lie to me!" objected the blind beggar. Abu Bakar was shocked, thus he asked" Why do you say so?" Answered the blind Jewish beggar," Because when he comes to me, I always felt it easy to hold his hand and found it easy to chew the food he fed me! The man who used to feed me would make the food fine before feeding it to me!" Abu Bakar As Siddiq could not hold back his tears anymore and he burst out crying and had to disclose who he actually was to the beggar. "Verily, I am not the one who used to come and feed you. I am one of his Companions for the noble one is alive no more! He was none other than the Blessed Prophet of Allah, Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam!" "Muhammad?" asked the blind old Jewish beggar, totally shocked with what he had just heard. "You mean to tell me that the one who came each morning without fail and fed me by his hand was Muhammad?" asked the beggar. "Yes! It was Muhammad!" answered Abu Bakar. Immediately, the blind old Jewish beggar wailed out in despair and cried so pitifully coming to realise that it was none other than the Holy Prophet who had been feeding him all this while. "All these while!...all these while, I had been cursing him, I had been slandering him! Not once has he ever scolded me ! He kept coming every morning to feed me! He is so noble!.." cried the old blind Jewish beggar as he wiped away his flowing tears on his cheeks. The blind beggar reached out to Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq, the first Caliph of the Muslims and testified before him the Kalimah Shahadah :'Ash har doo Allah ila ha ill lall Lah! Wa ash har doo anna Muhammad darr Rasulullah!' declaring that There is No God but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah! From that moment onwards, the blind old Jewish beggar became a Muslim.
The Good, the bad and the ugly... They all come in a package.
If you pick PAS, probably the crime rate, the corruption, the Ah Longs, gambling, and late night clubbing will all go down, which is not a bad thing really, irregardless of religion. But you got to give up your women's rights, entertainment freedom, and maybe you got to cover up more, so fashion goes kaput. But then if you choose UMNO, you have more corruption, more abuses of the law and the public institutions, more crime, etc..in fact I can't see any good thing. We are caught in between. So we got to choose the less of two extremes.
We have to vote PAS in for a term at least, so that UMNO can clean their shop after they lose power. As long as UMNO sit in Putrajaya, it can never reform.
Nobody at the PAS meeting called me a pendatang. Nobody at the PAS meeting waved a keris to threaten me. Nobody at the PAS meeting asked me to go back to China although I am a true blooded Malaysian born here and don't speak a word of Mandarin. Non of the leaders in PAS have been accused of stealing our taxpayers' money. As for the imposition of Islamic laws, the UMNO people had been even more radical. Weren't the UMNO people the ones involved in snatching dead bodies and children? Weren't the UMNO people the ones who demolished churches and temples?
TheStar Online again showed it only want to highlight things unfavorable to Pakatan in today's report: Non-Muslim spoke for the first time at PAS Muktamar. It only highlight Vincent Lim speaking about complaints from supporters about difficulties to meet their elected representatives. But it never highlight Vincent expressing non-Muslims' apprehension about PAS holding Unity Government with dastardly UMNO.
You might want to bold this too "if they were found to violate any rules". Stop trying to make PAS looks bad. Even some PAS members criticize the act of how some PAS delegates getting pissed with the reporters.
BTW, is it not the responsibility of the reporters also to respect the event and dress responsibly?
Better to ban PAS
Datuk, would that be the rationale to keep holding on to MCA and UMNO?
Ms Lime,
I for one do think that PAS will be part of a change for the better.
Without a doubt, PAS (just as PKR, DAP, and every other political party out there) has its weaknesses, but looking at PR as a whole and what do you have?
A secular party (DAP) cooperating with a religious party (PAS) with the gulf between them bridged by a reformist party (PKR).
Although it is common enough for BN-apologists to try to hit at the PR coalition by saying that they are just a 'loose' coalition with lots of problems and no clear stance, the fact is that their stance is very simply against the corruption, nepotism, and fascism of BN.
History has shown that both secular and religious options can be used for progress - but corruption and fascism hinder, not help.
So yes, I think PAS could be part of a change for the better.
-Vish.
In PAS, the leaders can say what they want. But the other memebers have equal rights to retort openly and "taruh" the leaders! In UMNO, whatever the leaders say, the others just endorse like robots. And the BN component parties just endorse whatever UMNO proposes. Pakatan Rakyat component parties are able to say their differing opinions.
Aiyah.. UMNO got such fanatics too! So, how?? As long as religion is the main factor of a political party, there will be such madness!!
Live with it!
Just when PAS had the opportunity to show they have the ability to become a pary for all Malaysians, they shot their own feet by talking about "unity" talks with UMNO, and calling for a ban of SIS. With a single stroke, Hadi divided PAS itself, as well as divided Pakatan Rakyat. And Hadi showed that he does not have what it takes to be the leadership and charisma to unite all Malaysians. We will never know what is really going on inside his head. Was it misguided greed that led him to tango with UMNO? Is he willing to sacrifice PAS, DAP and PKR to fulfill his own political ambition? Was he promised a very high ranking minister position as a reward for bringing PAS to UMNO. Is he willing to make PAS a little brother to UMNO, despite all the beatings that PAS followers suffered under the hands of UMNO?
UMNO is taking full advantage of calling for the "unity" talks to erode Pakatan Rakyat, and PAS itself. And MCA and Gerakan are taking full advantage to chide DAP and PKR to challenge PAS, in order to divide the coalition. Hadi and NAS, congratulations for a job well done if your intention was to sabotage Pakatan Rakyat and PAS.
Now is the time to break the talibans. Before they into power.
Anonymous said...
Hadi and Nas: Don't kid yourself that you two are already PM and DPM in waiting. The moment you betray PKR and DAP, we will send you all back to Kelantan. Without PKR and DAP support, PAS was just confined to Kelantan, and only because of the respect given by the Kelantanese to Nik Aziz. You two lost Terengganu. SO Hadi and Nas, don't get too swollen headed.
Anonymous said...
Big headed Hadi and Nas: If you have the guts, come stand for elections in KL, in urban constituencies. For having a romance with UMNO, we will send you packing back to the stone age where you two belong.
Anonymous said...
If PAS wants to go to bed with UMNO, then it can forget about becoming the big brother in Pakatan Rakyat. We voted for PR because we are sick of the corruption, discrimination, and abuse of power by UMNO/BN. If PAS finds these negative values of UMNO acceptable, then we will not give the votes to PAS. It would show that beneath the robes they wear that they are just like UMNO. So Hadi and Nas, you two better not be so greedy and impatient, or else we send you back to Jurasic Park where you belong. Besides hurting DAP, PKR and the voters, you have also hurt quite a lot of people within PAS, including the most respected person Nik Aziz. You two can be brought down even faster than you climbed up. We could show you the way out come the next election. You will find that your fair weather friends from UMNO distance themselves from you very quickly when that day comes.
Anonymous said...
Hadi and Nas, if you like UMNO so much, where don't you two join UMNO instead of hanging around in PAS? They could make you two ministers in return for frogging to UMNO, overnight. No need to waste time doing "unity talks" taichi.
SIS has done a lot of good social work for the downtrodden lot. So for PAS to call for a ban of SIS is shocking! What does PAS stand for? And to make it worse, on the same day, they cosy up to a corrupt political party. So PAS wants to go to bed with a corrupt organisation, but calling for a ban of great social organisation made of people who have volunteered their time to do good, without pay. PAS, what do you stand for???? Are you the same type as UMNO??
Anonymous said...
Hadi and Nas should resign for the damage they did to PAS and PR.
Anonymous said...
Is it possible that Hadi and Nas are planning on crossing over to UMNO? Is that why they are so intent on wreaking damage to PAS itself, and also to PR ? Got to watch these two guys closely, just in case they are viruses planted by UMNO.
