Shameful thuggish behaviour!

IT'S shameful! We don't have to agree with each other in politics but confrontation is surely not the way. More so, within the Parliament compound and even more shameful, how can the security guards be standing idly when a Member of Parliament - a disabled MP in a wheelchair - is mobbed and confronted by some 22 people, claiming to be Umno Youth members, The Star Online reported. No one is his right mind can condone such thuggish behaviour.

Umno Youth has every right to be angry with Karpal Singh's claim that two live bullets were sent to him by the movement. As a seasoned lawyer, he should know better. He must produce evidence. You don't have to be a first year law student to know that. He also has to watch his offensive language. Umno Youth has given him 24 hours to produce proof. But to harass a lawmaker, who is entering Parliament, to perform his duties is certainly a criminal offence. The police must step in and arrest these hooligans. I think Malaysians who have watched the Bollywood movie "Singh is King" would have realised that Mafia-like characters like the Don and gangsters were not condoned. See Ktemoc and Rocky Bru for their views. How low should our politics sink?

DS WCW, I agree with you that the hooligan behaviour of that mob should not be tolerated. Unfortunately this is NOT the first time that such behaviour has taken place, and each time it happened, the mob went unpunished. So it seems that certain parties have come to think that it is OK for them to do it. The fact that some cops stood by without taking action once again reinforced their assumption that it is OK to take mob action. It is already a trade mark behaviour for that certain party.

It is good that UMNO reminds the Malaysian public of their quality, or rather the lack of it. The silent majority needs such constant reminder.

Their mob action can only reinforce Karpal's suspicion where the bullets came from. They should have behaved gentlemanly if they want to show that Karpal's accusation was baseless. Remember perception is everyting in politics.

Pakatan Rakyat should thank UMNO Youth for the stupid action. Now there are more reminders to the Rakyat why they should reject BN/UMNO at the upcoming by-elections. And why the Rakyat should insist on the resignation of the notorious 3 frogs in Perak. Surely the Rakyat don't want to have mob-power running this country?! I am this willnot be the only stupid action before now and the next three by-elections.
REJECT MOBPOWER.

Now, besides corruption, intimidation, hopping, double-hopping, porn, bullets, we can add Mob-attack to the lives of our MPs and ADUNs. What's next? Will nothing surprise us anymore? Is this the "New Malaysia" that our government has promised us?

UMNO Youth once again tunjuk taring lah. Luckily they didn't bring their keris along...ha ha ha. Should we be surprised with their actions?? No lor.

Let the show begin! As if M'sian politics is not low enough....

M'sian politics are out of control. And the victims are us...the people on the streets. I haven't seen anything concrete to help us climb out of this economic slump. And the stupid toll hikes will only burden us even more. THis country is in a real mess and if we are not careful, this will lead us to more problems..

I am totally disgusted and lost of words to describe the despicable behavior of these UMNO samsengs. Is Malaysia becoming another Zambawe?
Opposition MBs were mobbed in front of security personnel and they did nothing! What sort of PDRM do we have.
This is a very serious precedence and does not augur well for the future of Malaysia. Is this the rehearsal of what to expect if UMNO
rule is threatened…?
Democracy takes a back seat, mafia rules and Malaysia is doomed.
Until now, no serious effort is made to confront the global financial crisis, only rhetoric and gutter politicking.
What have the leaders of UMNO to say?

wcw,

thats what you get when you compromise these vital institutions ie. police, AG, ACA and the judiciary. law of jungle will rule and those are supposed to uphold the law and order, just couldnt bother unless directed by the politicians.

Look at how MACC is now used to strike fear into the hearts of those who would not toe the line of the politicians. IN the history of Malaysia, when was a Speaker interrograted by MACC for doing his/her job. And the police gets into the action too.
WCW, if this continues with unbridled manipulation of these vital institutions, this country is gonna descend into the abyss.

Dear Wong,

SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

TRIPLE SHAME ON UMNO YOUTH.

TO THINK THAT THE POLICE DID NOT ACT PROMPTLY TO STOP THIS BEHAVIOR ONLY COMFIRMED MY FEAR THAT THE POLICE ARE NOT IMPARTIAL. OR ARE THEY JUST PLAIN INCOMPETENT?

I AM SURE MANY WOULD AGREE THAT GUTTER POLITICS IN MALAYSIA HAS DETERIORATE INTO SEWERAGE POLITICS!!!! OR KUNG FU POLITICS??? I DON'T KNOW AND I GIVE UP....

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

the behaviour of mobs are regretted, but in the first place the seasoned politician should know that he cannot simply accuse people without evidence.

If he didn't say it or start it, then the whole episode wouldn't have happened.

So, the lesson is don't simply blame without any basis. Any stupid can make baseless accusation, but it takes a strong calibre person to prove it.

Richguy said...

You call it thuggish but the UMNO leaders have come out strongly in support of these thugs. They gave reasons as provocation. In this country UMNO with all possible means can provoke people but not others. When others have something harsh to say, they are quick to jump into the ring even to give you bullets.
As far as UMNO is concerned,
Even ten rights can't make their single wrong, Wrong! Period
Accept it!

I am now in Dubai reading your blog. At the rate we are going, UMNO is taking us down the Zimbabwe route. Whats next UMNO? Grabbing the lands of the non-bumis? I am sure UMNO is capable of this since this party is now dominated by money chasing immoral hooligans who are the scumbags of society!! Way to go UMNO!!!

This is a new low in Malaysian politics. Ok there was porn, there were frogs, there was double-frog, there were cows, but this has got to be a new low......attacking a man in a wheel chair. This has got to go down into the Malaysian book of records! The high and mighty, and self-righteous, pitious umno youth mob attacking a wheel chair old man!!! The head of umno youth should commit harakiri to cleanse his shame! Or at least resign in shame that his followers did not behave properly and brought shame to umno youth. Alas, our political leaders have no sense of shame.

Why double standard????Arrest them immediately and held them under ISA.They're very dangerous to the "rakyat" security.

Dear Dato

Only in your dream this will happen - "The police must step in and arrest these hooligans" . There are UMNO personal - there are untouchable .

It was a totally unwarranted for UMNO Youth to be present at Parliament to demand an apology from Karpal Singh. If they are not happy with him, then lodge a police report like the 100s of reports lodged earlier against him for attempting to sue HRH.

Again, UMNO Youth is trying to show how mighty and great they are through intimidation. Hishamudin should take charge of the situation but he allowed it to happen.

I am happy that MCA Youth stood firm with it's stand on this matter and condemned UMNO Youth's show of force. At least they are still sane unlike the UMNO Youth thugs.

Dato Wong, I totally agree with your appropriate title "SHAMEFUL THUGGISH BEHAVIOUR". And from the TV broadcast last night and media reports, I am very sure I know who the thugs are. UMNO Youth la who else?

Anonymous said...

I AM ASHAMED OF UMNO YOUTH AND THEIR SILLY ACTION TO TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS BY PREVENTING KARPAL FROM ENTERING PARLIAMENT UNTIL HE APOLOGISES. HE WAS CLEARLY HARRASSED AND SO WERE SOME OF HIS DAP COMRADES.

YOU ARE RIGHT TO CALL THEM THUGS & HOOLIGANS. I AM SURPRISED THEY DID NOT CALL ALL PENDATANGS TO BERAMBUS LIKE HOW THEY ALWAYS DO.

WILL POLICE TAKE ACTION AGAINST THEM?? DOUBT SO.

It's no longer a surprise to see security people or the police stand by while witnessing criminal intimidation. Remember the crash into the bar council's talk in a private place and the non-permitted demostration by UMNO as well as the young UMNO gangsters confronting a crippled Karpal. They know no shame and show a blatant disregard for the law. Since the leader of those gangsters is known, if police does not make an arrest, then our government is sending out a clear message that unbiased law is no longer practised in Malaysia!

justicenequality said...

As usual "no action" will be taken by these bunch of UMNO Youth with their uncouth behaviour. They know jolly well they have the backing so they have immunity from arrest, etc.
So tell me, with the easy access in these IT Age, these news/videos will be easily circulated for the whole world to see. SHAME.

The cops and security guys on duty should all be sacked or redeployed to take charge of a kindergarten.

That's where they will be willing to show they have balls.

Umno Youth says no to debate with Pas on Teaching of Science and Maths in English but YES to bullying a disabled MP.

No balls, no guts and no brains, you Umno Youth guys.

DISGUSTED

Thanks for taking this up when the Star seemed to be silet yesterday. MI covered it first.

"alleged to be" UMNO YOuth? But they said they are, so why are we being so nice. It is the same. If we are angry at the guards behaviour, the MSM should also come clean/

Dato'Is good UMNO continue to behave like gangsters.Next GE will be change of govt.:(

Oik! when STAR put that picture? Why STAR didnt put the picture of Karpal tengah karam dibelasah oleh sekumpulan melayu ganas? Ish..

Today's STAR's front page is so bias reporting. For goodness sake la.. get your reporters to do decent work la..What's with the fist of fury!?? Even if it is indeed fist of fury, show la, the picture of how a group of grown strong, big size GASTON looking men pushing and shoving a woman (fong poh kuan) and Lim Lip Eng and all.

Dear Dato Seri,

As a Malaysian firstly im ashamed of our politicians behaviour.
Politicians argued in the parliament house for the 'Rakyat'
but now situation have changed
arguing, condeming each other for their personal interest.
This Malaysian Politician Whom going to Rock The World?

Scenes of a crippled Kirpal being intimidated by Umno Youth thugs remind us of the Nazi reign of terror in Germany. The Nazis did it with the connivance of Hitler. Umno Youths are doing it with backing from Umno. Nazism has come back from the dead. Seig Heil.

All educated and law-abiding Malaysians will know what to do comes the next general election and the forthcoming by-elections.

UMNO Youth members should continue to behave like hooligans and the police who are taking care of security in our parliament should continue to be tidak apa when it comes to enforcement and upholding law and order in this Bolehland.

SURE! We shall see BN/UMNO at the ballot box ....

Why in the first place that the security is so sluggish that no one from the police or security personnel in the compound coming to Kapal's aid? It is a disgrace for 30 or more people to surround a disabled Parlimentarian venting untolerated remarks. This type of low quality behaviour depicts UMNO is using gangsterism to threatern their enemy.

ChengHo said...

Karpal just need to repeat his allegation out side parliment interesting to see how they will face each other in the court

Seriously, I know where my vote is going to now. I rather die than to vote pathetic fools who came by the night and hijacked the entire State Assembly. Go figure

Datuk Wong.

We are seeing the beginning of the disintegration of the country.

The national institutions are breaking down.

What is next. Total anarchy?

Anonymous said...

We could agree Karpal has a sharp tongue. But can we condone the acts of youth who are supposedly the role models for young Malaysians. To make matter worst, the youth chief has come out in support of these hooligans.
I would say Hisham failed as Education minister and leader.

ChengHo said...

Pemuda Umno missed the chance of the real issue , the allegation by Karpal on bullet and 'celaka'
They have to let Hisham , KJ and MM to challenge and debate Karpal within the parlimentry session
Peoples will forget the root cause of the fiasco in the 1st place
Karpal knew Hisham is a warrior without his Kris..never known to be a debater...

Odette said...

Through it all, the perpetrators are still openly defiant and unrepentant.... what sort of role models do we have? Memang memalukan!

Anonymous said...

Yea, agreed. Shameful!!! DS, I am appalled that Krismudin is supporting their behaviour.

It is a difficult situation. Hopefully things would not go out of hands. We wish the police to be fair and control the situation without an biaseness.

Who would be the neutral referee to all this? Which authority, which court will decide? In the ruling government or opposition's territory? How can we have a fair judgement?

Somehow many feel, it is best and wise (for now) to have a re-election. May the Sultan have wisdom to dissolve the parliament. Lets be practical here.

With concern,
