It's a disgrace really. I am now at the Dewan Rakyat press room to send out my post after catching the first 40 minutes of question time. It's being telecast live and millions of Malaysians must be watching the proceedings. Having covered the Dewan Rakyat for years, I must admit the performance of some MPs has been pretty disgraceful.
While the Opposition MPs appeared to capitalise on the live telecast by bringing up procedural issues, the Barisan Backbenchers Club deputy chief Datuk Bung Mokhtar was in his usual element - being unparliamentary.
At one point, DAP's Karpal Singh called the Kinabatangan MP "Big Foot" and he shouted back "Big Monkey". And this is only the first day of question time. Pasir Mas MP Datuk Ibrahim Ali also joined in the fray, sounding more like a Barisan MP although he sits on the opposition bench. But clearly the Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin lacked the command and authority to bring order on the first day.
At one stage, he said there should be no supplementary questions, which even the Prime Minister must have found unusual. Pak Lah luckily asked for some questions to be allowed.

Did Jeff Ooi talk about his car?....
Good JOB! If only you can get the formatting right so we don't have to strain to read your posts...
Also, ain't Kit Siang the first blogger in parliament? He blogs from his office in parliament quite regularly, I understand.
Seriously, I think the balance of power we have today is because of BN's own wrong doing. You do clown stuff - you get clowns into parliament. Can't say much about anything further.
The PR MPs shouldn't had reacted in the like manner when the BN MPs were being provocative and acted like unduly, rowdy school children.
They should have behaved in a more dignified manner and showed decorum in the House.
It is hope the opposition MPs can behave diffrently from today onward. Even if provocative behaviour and abusive language are thrown at them, they should react with controlled language and manner. Don't fall for their bait. This will surely stun the BN MPs. Show contrast, assure the people they ahd voted correctly.
I personally think the session today is rather normal.......in fact, in any democratic country, it prones to happen that way (Taiwan? Korea?)......slowly they and we will get used to it.....the problem is first created by the ruling party for not giving a fairer treatment of the opposition even though they have substantial number of seats, plus BN does not support the opposition candidate to be the vice speaker of the dewan to make it look more equitable, what else can we blame?
It's the first day of school and everybody wanted to show off their new everything. New friends. At the end of the day, big, small, rich or poor will only have the report card to show for.
For those with good marks, off they go to a better class next year. For the dunce and the class clowns, well, they are just that. To make life a tad colourful for the rest before they end their schooling years and become rempits and Malaysian footballers.
The same show. The same clowns. Unfortunately a tad nearer to the grave.
Wow what a big change to the Star. What used to be a MCA mouthpiece is starting to show signs of life but is it for real?
