However, I take issue with this suggestion of his: "There are four more years to the next general election. Barisan and Pakatan can agree to share two years each at the helm."

With all due respect to the learned Professor, the Rakyat's mandate to form the government cannot be treated like a timeshare apartment. It is not to be haggled or negotiated over, or bought & sold, and certainly not divided up like pizza at a party. It is to be treated with the utmost respect, and when there is doubt & confusion as to where the mandate of the Rakyat lies, the only recourse left to the government is to humbly stand before the Rakyat & ask them for it again.

To ensure that the transactional business of Perak's government gets done, by all means a neutral caretaker government can be appointed to keep things running. IMHO there is no need to use the potentially dangerous "legal sledgehammer" of emergency rule. A caretaker government is sufficient, as they can keep keep the the grass cut & the state running, but cannot make policy decisions or mess with civil liberties. This is all Perak needs until elections can be held.Malaysian Hearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02542717063577069452noreply@blogger.com
